Heading North

If a butterfly flaps its wings in one hemisphere and starts a hurricane in the opposite hemisphere...

...what happens when a butterfly gets stuck in a windshield wiper blade at 65 mph?

Saying Good-bye to West Virginia

Although I will be back in three weeks to finish a couple of projects, today is my final day in West Virginia. I have called Wheeling my home for five years, though it always felt like I was just passing through. I will miss my friends, my co-workers and the wild and wonderful views, but I know it is time to move on.

Good-bye West Virginia.

Muddy Waters

I recently began reading the 'Tao Te Ching.' There is a line I came across, "Who can (make) the muddy water (clear)? Let it be still, and it will gradually become clear."

My waters are very muddy. I am trying to be very still, but I have an apartment to pack up and a short attention span. This is going to be a challenge.

Last Day Of My Old Life

This was my life for the last five years.

Harnesses, hardhats, steel-toed boots, tyvek suits, respirators, manlifts, power tools, hand tools, chemicals, cuts, bruises, burns, blood tests, more nights spent in hotels than in my apartment.

No more. Today is my last day as an architectural conservator. Tomorrow I start a new journey. I do not know the destination yet. I am hoping to find clarity and purpose along the way, and most of all, a place that feels like home. And this is the story of my journey.
