Meet and Greet

First day of class and already, we get our first taste of public speaking. I addition to finding out exactly who we were going to school with (equal parts American and Australians, a couple of Brits, a Kiwi, a South African, a German, an Indian woman, and a girl from the Philippines -- twenty of us in all) and what we could expect out of the course (it is more intensive than most of us expected, I think), we all got to prepare and deliver a three-minute speech on any subject we chose. And what did I choose? Building preservation. Stick to what you know, right?

After class, we had a meet and greet dinner at a Thai restaurant called the 'Dairy Bar.' I would expect ice cream with a name like that, but the food was excellent and the beer was free flowing ...which might explain this next photo:

Hey, what can you expect when a former girl from Wisconsin runs into what might be the only Holstein cow in all of Thailand?
